What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

If all other podcasts were eliminated from the world, this one would sustain me with all of its juicy nourishing goodness as I was wrapped in the loving embrace of the dulcet tones of these fine cinephiles.

NateBegleVO · Aug 2026

Griffin and David provide thoughtful, well-researched (good job JJ) and humorous look at the films we love and the directors that made them. Ben is great too! My only complaint is that sometimes David whispers or leans back when he has something important to say, requiring me to crank up the volume just to hear what he says. Eat the mike, David!! Great show, great hosts. Consider me a Blankie for life!

MightyBedbug · Aug 2026

Two friends and a great producer discuss filmographies. No bits. Great guests. Lots of laughs and a serious love of film. Connoisseurs of context Griffin and David offer deep dives into director's entire oeuvres chronologically, with a focus on box office performance and Oscar connections and accolades. Couldn't love it more.

DJ_Dziga · Jul 2026

Just listened to the 150th episode (Elle) after seeing Elle in a theater with Isabelle Huppert doing a Q&A so when in the episode the blank check boys are asking listeners to help them break big, after listening to 133 episodes with many more to come, it is with joy and a sense of responsibility that I write this review saying how much I love this podcast and how much I love these Context Kings and how fun it is listening to episodes from 2018 and 2026 back to back, and commend the boys on making me rewind a podcast multiple times because a joke (and often the response) are so funny I just have to hear it again. The world is a better place for this crazy passion podcast Griffin, David, and Ben make and those episodes always clear and never bounce, baby.

All That Podcast Allows · Jun 2026

I’ve tried listening to a few episodes. But it’s like discussing movies with a bunch of drunk friends. They constantly interrupt each other and you never know who’s talking. And they regularly go off topic. For instance, in the Odyssey episode, they talked about the minions movies for a few of minutes, then about the diarrhea epic epidemic in the US, then the lack of air-conditioning in Europe. But apparently they’re famous enough to get invited to press screenings. I think they come across like a bunch of amateurs. But if that’s your thing, definitely follow them

California Tio · Jul 2026

I generally love this show, because of Griffin and guests. But…insufferable blow hard David constantly talking over people and randomly spoiling off topic movies is grating. And they say actors are insecure.
