Science of Perception Box

by Unlikely Collaborators | Pod People

Join renowned scientists Dr. Heather Berlin and Dr. Christof Koch on the Science of Perception Box, where they delve into the Perception Box—a groundbreaking concept developed by Elizabeth R. Koch, that reveals how our beliefs, biases, and neural wiring shape our reality and define how we experience the world. Through captivating conversations with expert guests like psychiatrist Dr. Judson Brewer, anthropologist Dr. Helen Fisher, and journalist Michael Pollan, the show explores how the Perception Box expands in states of awe, curiosity, and love, and contracts during fear, anxiety, or anger. From mindfulness and romantic relationships to psychedelics and human connection, each episode uncovers transformative insights into unlocking greater awareness, fostering curiosity, and reshaping how we perceive the world. New episodes drop every Thursday on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Follow the journey and redefine your reality.

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Host Dr. Berlin is the best - both so smart and able to be plain-spoken in her discussion of complex issues. A few approachable podcast about such complex science. Beyond the main subject of each episode, there are so many tidbits and anecdotes on other topics that it’s made every episode enjoyable and highly educational

Mariano Jr · Mar 2025

I love listening to a podcast where the hosts hold each other accountable for scientific rigor and accuracy, and share different research perspectives. The audience and the hosts are learning with this show.

J-Boche · Feb 2025

Both intellectually stimulating and personally inspiring, I love how this podcast expands our minds and allows us to explore the ways we can make our lives better. Thank you!

SarahStoryteller · Jan 2025

Good podcast, great info, but the constant arguing back and forth from the hosts is so irritating and distracting from the whole message. Discuss the topics and it’s fine to disagree but stop arguing in circles over the same topics repeatedly (e.g. ego and consciousness).
