News Commentary · Maureen Johnson and Dan Sinker
by Maureen Johnson and Dan Sinker
In 2016, two friends—and author and a journalist--sat down to ride through the final weeks of the Presidential election by talking to the journalists covering it. They thought they were doing eight episodes. They were wrong. What started as a short trip has become a long and strange journey. They’ve gotten weird. They’ve made friends along the way. Mostly, the weird part, though. Join #1 New York Times bestselling author Maureen Johnson, and legendary publisher of Punk Planet Magazine Dan Sinker as they digest the news each week. Says Who: it’s not a podcast—it’s a coping strategy.

As the evening news has I reached the point where I can no longer watch, I thank the nonexistent supreme being that I have a place I can go once a week and feel at least slightly better. The Says Who podcast truly is a coping strategy for todays world. When they cover the headlines they find a way to make you laugh at them more and cry a little less. Also Dan finally made it through puberty.
This podcast truly was a coping strategy for me starting in the pandemic and has been ever since! Dan and Maureen have terrific chemistry, brilliantly offbeat humor, and keep it real about life and the crazy times we’re living in. The best way I can describe it’s like sitting in a conversation with two friends over coffee and being reassured that no, you’re not crazy and not the only one who thinks [insert political news/scandal/global pandemic/national incident] was corrupt, nutty, insane, or simply bizarre…. And given their literary luminosity as well, there’s healthy mix-in of book talk, travel adventures, and stories of family life. The result is a unique podcast that’s a great way to spend an hour.
I've been listening on and off for a year or so but have been a fan of Maureen's for a decade or so. Dan is also great and the two have a really enjoyable rapport. If you want a current events show with some biting wit... Tune in!
Not only is Says Who a wonderful coping strategy for these bewildering times, the Says Whovians have created a wonderful supportive community. Do yourself a favor and dive in.
