In 1996, two Aussie lesbian lovers touch down in London and become the toast of British high society. One of them starts touting an exclusive investment opportunity and, before long, the money is rolling in. But the millionaire duo are concealing a dark past and dastardly intentions. Unsuspecting businessmen and England’s horse-loving elite fall under their seductive spell. Even Queen Elizabeth II gets a dose of the couple’s irresistible charms. But when a small-town detective gets wind of their exploits and vows to stop them, he finds they are exceedingly hard to catch. Host Becky Milligan tracks down one half of the duplicitous duo and persuades her to tell all in this extraordinary tale of greed, lies and love. A true rom-con for the ages. Royal Swindle is a Blanchard House production for USG Audio, in partnership with Exactly Right Media.

Full disclosure: I originally put this on thinking it would be good background noise during work. But instead I was sucked into this absolutely fascinating piece of history I didn’t know anything about. The reporting is wonderful, and the storytelling is first-rate.
I was riveted by this podcast! The host was so charming, the story was truly fascinating, and the ending was so satisfying. The last episode and the part about Simeon and Marie Louise returning to Bulgaria after their exile gave me chills. I loved every bit of it!
The information in this podcast was fascinating, well researched and authentic. The challenges created in WWII were unimaginable. I learned a lot and my eyes have been opened. Prayers that humanity is never in that place again.
A piece of history I was never aware of! Good storytelling, awesome interviews and the right amount of humor to make the subject a little lighter. The music is top notch!
Such a good story but they repeat the same ideas over and over. It feels like they try too hard to make this story more mysterious than it is. It's a good story but I did not like how it was told. Each episode could have been so much shorter.
