It’s hard to put into words how much I needed to find this podcast right after Oct 7- western media & political pundits spouting Israeli “hasbara” and an unknown pressure to “stand w/israel” and any deviance being antisemitic. The utter gaslighting by politicians was maddening- anyways Breht’s voice on Palestine immediately grounded and validated everything I knew to be true. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Hosts are articulate, educated, and principled about the topics — some of my favorite episodes cover the modern history of countries whose colonial history I didn’t even know about. Really expert guests, whether they’re research professors or committed organizers.
Comparisons are to this podcast are rare. You immediately understand the speaker’s unwavering devotion to the material discussed and get the best, deepest, and most overarching understanding of world events through the tireless amounts of work and research dedicated by the host and guests.
I really appreciate the thoughtful way that Brent approaches the issues of our time, and the way he works to show how our current struggles fit into a larger historical context. His perspective is clear, and that’s also refreshing in a world where everyone seems to be trying to appear to be either center-left intellectual, or a right wing nut job. Highly worth a listen!
Had to unfollow because the way that they spoke on white supremacy and misogyny as being an invalid reason for why Trump won completely encapsulates the issues with white leftists and their inability to synthesize their progressive economic ideas with sound racial and gender theory. Frankly, to demean those who view white supremacy and misogyny as being a huge factor for Trump’s re-election is misguided, dangerous and only serves as a way to gaslight those whose lived experiences say otherwise. This isn’t to say that this podcast in invaluable. But as a black person I don’t want to listen to people speak on a reality that they are not privy to.
