What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Tim, your podcast gives me some much needed levity in the face of never-ending horrors. I especially love Mondays with Bill, even though - if you’d told me 10-20 years ago that I would willingly listen to Bill Kristol, I’d have punched you in the throat. But the reason I finally write you today is because my beautiful dog died last night; yet you and Sam are making me laugh so hard today. Thank you.

Thanks for the laughs · Aug 2026

I’ve been a long time listener and love this show. I appreciate the various perspectives and thoughtful content. I was finally moved to write a review because of your recent conversation with Julia Curlee which was so moving. Thank you for continuing to provide a platform for the folks who need and deserve it. 5 stars.

Tim, your interview with Julia Curlee was incredible. A master class in showing empathy and compassion. I love your podcast. As a liberal Democrat, I’ve committed myself to getting outside my media bubble and The Bulwark Daily is one way I can get a broad perspective from those who’ve been on the “other side”. And who knew I could agree with Bill Kristol 95% of the time these days?!

I live in Michigan and I just wanted to share what I am seeing in the voters here. Despite what was being pushed, El-Sayed is the safer choice. Here’s why: Left progressives and many independents (Bernie voters) are very excited about El-Sayed. They will show up to vote for him in November. Many of them would NOT have voted for Stevens. The people who voted for Stevens mostly voted for her as the “safe” choice and they will show up and vote for any democrat in November. I’m also curious what people think about the democrat vs republican turnout- pretty huge gap there. I am seeing trump supporters here losing all enthusiasm.

I thought I’d give this podcast a listen because I’d heard of it a few times. Wow, I listen to sources considered left and right, but I’ve not heard a group on the left this uncharitable to the half of the Americans who disagree with them politically. “No one hates the poor rural workers more than the Republicans” but in the same breath you paint the most offensive, uncharitable straw man of what you think Trump voters look like? I’ll tell you who hates the working rural poor. I’m half black and half white, and live in the most liberal city in Oregon. The white half of my family all live in rural towns. I’ve heard the most disgusting comments about how poor, stupid, uneducated, bigoted and racist rural Oregonians are from liberals who would never guess by looking at me that half my family are made up of those very people they’re disparaging. The Democratic Party hemorrhaged working class people (whites, but also blacks and a record number of hispanics) and your response is to say “Well hah, I can afford the tariffs but you can’t!” I hope y’all love losing. Love from Portland.

Not recommended for those seeking political analysis based on proven facts & data. Bulwark episodes are usually just an opinion-filled conversations with people of same political persuasion verifying each other's assertions. My last straw was Longwell, asserting strongly that according to her "research" from "talking to voters", Black voters didn't really like Kamala Harris and, like all Democrats, wouldn't care if she were pushed aside as potential replacement nominee. Shows a complete lack of understanding of voter trends & the base voters of Dem party. Take a pass on this pod.
