What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I appreciate the variety of views that Bill hosts. It brings a lot of common ground to light. Bill always demands answers to tough questions, but occasionally deflects when it comes to the DNC. Overall solid podcast and worth listening to most weeks - usually with multiple lol jokes. Don’t bother tuning in in the two months leading up to a major election

Lamont Davensnap · Sep 2024

A rare place to hear intelligent takes on the issues instead of the predictable left or right opinions. Always a few great laughs too. Thanks for the great work, Bill and team.

CcLamont · Jun 2024

Kudos to Bill for turning out the best (and only) live weekly show on television year upon year. Excellent guests from both sides of the aisle moderated by the insightful and hilarious Maher who is never afraid to call out the hypocrisies and double standards that pervade modern society.

ShimmyKz · Jun 2024

Bill, I have been watching/listening to your show for 10 years, and have always been a big fan. However (and I say this purely as constructive criticism), recently I get the sense that you are less open to considering both sides of an issue, and more strongly present your personal feelings without considering opposing views. The war in Gaza being a good example. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to say that 2 things can be true - Oct 7 was horrific and Israel should be expected to go after Hamas, but doing it in a way that indiscriminately kills over 12,000 innocent children who have nothing to do with Hamas, is also wrong - and pointing that out doesn’t mean you don’t support the Israeli people, or have anything to do with antisemitism. After 9/11 we had a similar situation, but went after AQ in a tactical/targeted manner. If we had started indiscriminately bombing cities and villages in Afghan-/Pakistan, the world would have been in an uproar. Likewise, in Iraq. It was extremely difficult to find the enemy embedded within the local population, and required a great deal of planning/intelligence/skill to do so without killing innocent civilians. If we had just decided to drop 2000lb bombs on Bagdhad or Fallujah, wiping out entire city centers and killing 10’s of thousands of innocent civilians, no one would have supported/defended that…because it would have so blatantly been a violation of the Geneva conventions and IHL. I would just like to see/hear you present both sides of this, and all other issues. That was one thing about you I always appreciated, and lately I feel like you have been getting away from it. Thank you for all you do, and I hope this helps.

I’ll have the volume all the way up and Bill’s voice is so quiet and muffled, he’s almost impossible to hear. But the constant applause and laughter from the audience sounds like it is amplified. The bad audio makes the show unlistenable.

Doubledipped · Aug 2024

The best thing this show can offer is a few laughs, and maybe some edgy political commentary. All too often this is marred by the quality of the audience. It sounds heavily populated by “bro” types who are willing to applaud every forcefully stated opinion, regardless how specious it might be. I suspect that the producers strongly encourage the audience to laugh and applaud vehemently, and it ends up sounding forced, like ten people trying to sound like 50. Truly thoughtful discussion doesn’t require constant reinforcement by “the crowd.” I end up rolling my eyes at all the pandering.
