Follow Pablo down the rabbit hole, beyond the game — every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday — on his Pulitzer-winning video podcast, part of The Athletic Podcast Network. You’ll get a deep-dive "talkumentary" episode, reported by Pablo and Curiosity Correspondents like Emmy-winning comedian Wyatt Cenac and Oscar-winning director Ezra Edelman, answering urgent questions such as: Are you smarter than an NFL quarterback? Does Giannis intentionally miss free throws to win free chicken for fans? And why does the FBI director play so much hockey? This storytelling has been honored by the Pulitzer Prizes, the Emmy Awards, the Peabody Awards and the Edward R. Murrow Awards. (Journalism!) Plus: Pablo hangs out with handpicked figures from sports, culture and politics like Sue Bird, Action Bronson and U.S. Senators… plays Share & Tell with friends like Domonique Foxworth, Mina Kimes, Katie Nolan and Dan Le Batard (aka his boss)… and unveils the secrets of capitalism with David Samson and John Skipper on The Sporting Class. Do you know why your blood might boil when listening to topics like this? Maybe because you’re forced to actually contemplate the idea for a moment and see where your values lie. Tough questions about tough topics, not just clickbait “aha!” moments. Most everyone I’ve seen complain has directly attributed the Riley Gaines episode, likely because it’s a TOUGH TOPIC WHERE AMBIGUITY AND OPINION WILL ALWAYS EXIST. Because you disagree with a person or their findings does not change the quality of their work. Pablo presents evidence, context, and fact. Guests may provide commentary or their own personal experiences, but this is show does astoundingly well at bringing what’s done in the darkness out into the light, creates a conversation, and if all parties are willing to participate, maybe we can move forward as a unit. I applaud this journalism and wish more of it existed, in sports and elsewhere.
I have no clue how I can across this show. Alas, here I am, loving this show for Pablo’s humor, incisive observations, and the wide ranging stories. The death-play one brought me to tears, the one about the billionaire team owner screwing over ARod has me sharing the episode far and wide. Sports are an entry point but the show is about so much more.
I first learned of Pablo Torre from his periodic appearances on Morning Joe. I quickly learned why Joe & team have him back so often. He is not only knowledgeable on sports & culture, he is insightful, funny and ever so entertaining. Just recently after one memorable Morning Joe segment with him, I said I need to check out his podcast. Wow was I blown away. My first episode listened was “The Other JD.” I started to just listen for a few minutes, but I couldn’t turn away. He’s that good, and since then I’ve enjoyed several new episodes, each one new and refreshing in how he approaches the subject of that episode. If you’re looking for something to make you feel upbeat, positive and hopeful, I highly suggest checking out Pablo Torres Finds Out. Awesom
The deep dive journalism episodes are always interesting and fantastic but it’s the share and tells I look forward to each week. Not so much for the topics but rather the banter and honest friendships that are on display. Keep up the great work Pablo and gang.
Hi Pablo, in theory I love the show. But what is up with the over editing? You are chopping up a sentences like a line cook slammed on a Friday night. Jesus let him (and his guests) talk for just a second before editing and slicing . I just want to listen to a podcast and not a TIKTOK feed.
