Oh my… I am listening to episode 41, and when Liz and Mark read that listener letter about the woman’s mom listening in her final days in hospice to help her reminisce on her own childhood in small town Missouri, I welled up with tears immediately. I cannot express how grateful I am to have shared in these memories of a life so well lived. These days, it’s so easy to get bogged down with the negative, but then I think about how much Betty went through in her young life, and she did so graciously and without complaining. I think she was the happier for it, and I wish to emulate her in that way. As a former avid journaler who recently had a baby and had to give up my 4-5 page daily entries for a hectic existence as a parent, Elizabeth has inspired me to go the 5-year journal route so I can keep up with such an important hobby as primary source creation.
My only regret is that I found the podcast too late and won’t be able to send in a voice recording, which is why my review is so thorough, here. Thank you Mark and Liz, and I hope you and yours are safe after these horrible hurricanes. I’ve been worried about you all.

I love it that you are back with Carolyn and Camille’s diaries. They come at a particularly hard time for me as I have had eye surgery and cannot drive, read, or watch TV for a while.
I literally clapped my hands in glee when I saw that My Grandma’s Diaries was back with the Twin’s diaries.
When I listened to the episode SURPRISE, I broke down, sobbing at the news that Carolyn had passed away during the break. It was as if I lost a member of my own family, and I am so sorry for your loss.
The eulogy was absolutely beautiful and perfectly written for a woman who lived life to the fullest.
Thank you so much for sharing such a lovely and personal tribute.
I will think of her every time I see the grammatical errors that bothered her so. They bother me too.

I can’t get enough of this. I wait impatiently for Tuesday’s drop. It’ll be like losing a family when this is all over. Having Bradley reading CF’s journal is a great addition. His voice is amazing. Even tho I absolutely adore Mark and Liz. I love the little banter between you guys and how you end up in left field sometimes. It’s hilarious and I laugh knowing that’s how my world turns too. Plus your subtle input on present day news is ALWAYS welcomed. Right there with you guys. Kudos for not being afraid to say what any sane person would say.

I have truly enjoyed the stories of Elizabeth and now her daughters. Their episodes provided such a lovely and meaningful escape into another time, and I often found myself wishing there were even more to hear. However, over time, the podcast began to shift away from what originally made it so special. More and more, political opinions started to weave into the conversations — sometimes subtly, sometimes more openly — and it changed the feeling of the experience. If I were looking for political commentary, I would simply turn to the news.
What finally prompted me to leave this review was hearing Liz and Mark speak critically of Billy Graham and his son, Franklin Graham. It was disheartening to hear this, especially considering the enormous positive impact Samaritan’s Purse has had around the world. Under Franklin Graham’s leadership, Samaritan’s Purse has provided critical aid to countless people, including much-needed help during disasters like Hurricane Helene and the devastating California wildfires. Their work has brought real relief and hope to so many who needed it most.
I am grateful for the early episodes and the heart they carried. I only wish the podcast had stayed true to the spirit that made it such a special part of my week.
