When he said “it’s like wisdom that has been handed through the lyrics“ this resonated heavily with me! So much good guidance and direction in Gloria’s music even if it did take learning it in hindsight 🙏🏽😊 Seal Our Fate, Close My Eyes, Higher, Path of the Right Love, MEDICINE, Abriendo Puertas!!!! This really is very exciting listening to everyone’s first time story of how they me Gloria. Really is an absolutely beautiful story how Wes has followed her and collected every album/record since the very beginning and only now had an opportunity to meet Gloria after being invited to the Raíces party. Rob has the cutest story of being super nervous when meeting Gloria as a little boy and not even knowing what to say when she approaches… I actually remember this feeling so well… The very first time I ever saw Gloria in person was just by chance walking with my mom and sister in the late 80s through Bayside in Miami. My mom said she was incognito but I knew it was her. She asked my name for an autograph and my mother had to answer. I was just speechless. And Carlos’s story.. actually reminded me of something that happened to me exactly the same! When I first had a proper conversation with Gloria I was 15 years old and one of the things I now remember her asking me if I was on the conga list or part of Conga online.. listening to this episode made me remember that I also thought in that moment “what is that! “ and it wasn’t until the “live by request“ series that I saw there were a group of fans from this. Still, I never knew how people learned about this but it’s very cool hearing you guys share! Terrific episode looking forward to number three.
