I’ve been learning French for the past few years - tons of studying, practice with convo partners who live in France, and I’m at B2 level. Went to France for the first time last year, and while actual conversations were completely doable, I was lost when it came to understanding waiters, grocery store employees, and picking up on what younger people were saying was really tough.
