Football America is a show about stories that matter—discussed by people who don’t. Why? Because this beautiful game deserves all of the spotlight. Football raised us. We obsess over it. We fight about it. We name our dogs after retired players, then name our children after those dogs. We talk football the way Sinatra sang songs: with conviction. And drunk. Each week, Dave Dameshek’s embarrassing habit of assigning meaning to frivolous stats is on full display as he is joined by a host of celebrities, players, and well-meaning people who play experts on television. Hilarity ensues. Debate follows. It’s a love letter to football written in spicy mustard. Football America! is synonymous (see what we did there?). This isn’t just a sport. It's our national identity… but it’s also a sport.

I’ve been enjoying the show, but the latest episode was exceptionally good.. The opening essay was killer! (“is Jesus in a fantasy league with Buddha”) When you mentioned The A-Train Mike Allott among great # 40s, I swooned. Great show even though your opinion on boot cut jeans is way off.
Dave is 1:1 in the best way. He is clever, smart, and unique in a time where the loudest voice and hottest takes are part of algorithm feeding the “basics” sports data without intelligent and humorous perspective. I have to thank the crew, Dan, Justin, Conner, and the rest of the team that does great work at ATN now Heed the Call for introducing me and others to Shek! If you haven’t listened to Heed the Call, that show is also a ray of humorous sports sunshine and top football insider information. I have lived in Seattle my entire life and enjoy getting all of the salient East Coast news from Shek’s unbiased perspective. He only hates two things in this world: people who are intolerant of other people’s NFL teams and the Ravens. He knows sports history. He is the human version of Encyclopedia Brittanica, except he knows more than can fit neatly in a 32 volume set. I guesstimate he knows 3.4 terabytes of just Pittsburgh sports history. How does one remain so unbiased and so educated about the world and still posses such keen insights into sports fashion? How say you? Despite my Seahawks getting wholly fooked over by the zebras in the Paris of the Midwest in the season of our lord; 2005, and his Steelers being gifted a Lombardi trophy, I am willing to show growth and tolerance as a human and give him his well earned 5 Star rating.
No one I mean NO ONE kibitzes about our beloved past time like Dave. Different, entertaining, informative and also gets great guests. Highly recommend for football lovers
Listening to the latest pod and I'm getting She k's takes as usual but wait... am I hearing a discussion of something other than sport? Tarantino movies? I've stuck with Dave for his deep knowledge but the fun side has emerged again! Keep it coming Dave! To add to this, just heard the Handsome Hank interview. Great to hear even if yo don't know their history.
