What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

This is the most coherent, helpful podcast to learn Japanese as a beginner. Thank you NHK. I hope that you make more like this in the future. You’ve done such a service for others.

This podcast is exactly what I needed to get the fundamentals down. I’ve been listening to podcasts with slower Japanese but when you don’t understand even half of it, you still don’t feel like you’re actually learning anything! I love how this breakdown the conversations and gives different examples of how a Japanese person might pronounce certain things. I do wish there were more episodes but I’m grateful for what I’ve learned in this because I can just create my own sentences from the framework laid out in these. And relistening I can probably catch and more learn more vocabulary as well. Excellent job!

This program might work if you using it as a weekly introduction to a grammar tip. The program hits a different grammar tactic each lesson and there is very little time to process the material in the exercises during the podcast. They only sort of explain the words they introduce right before you use them and there is very little review of content. The cultural tips at the end are very interesting.
