This podcast is super helpful for understanding more about drums and nerding out about cool history. The guests are great too! It’s funny, when I followed Drum History Podcast on Instagram, all the other drummers I follow are fans too!
I very much appreciate this podcast! As a female drummer, I would really love/be very interested in more topics involving female drummers/more female guests. Two topics I’d personally love: history of Tom Tom magazine (even though the guest on the “history of drum magazines” episode did not mention Tom Tom, I appreciated Bart noting he sought to do an episode on it) + a history of female drummers during the riot grrrl/90s era.
Lots of us play drums because we love the gear. I subscribe to a few drum podcasts, but Drum History is the only one that provides the deep dive into the gear. Bart is a great host. The episodes are always interesting.
Growing up as a kid in Chicago during the late 60s I was fortunate enough to be around when brands like Ludwig and Slingerland were at the forefront of the drumming industry. I’m the kid who stripped his entire Ludwig kit and packed the lugs with cotton so the springs wouldn’t buzz. Hearing stories from some of the industry’s top manufacturers and drum geeks is an absolute delight, and even though I’ve played DW drums for nearly 30 years I learned many insights and behind the scene stories from founder Don Lombardi that I’ve never heard before. Being a manufacturer of a drumstick company called SHAKERSTIX these industry pros have given me so much insight and encouragement to keep plugging along and producing the only egg shaker drumstick on the market. Every episode I’ve listened to thus far gets a A+, great job Bart, absolutely love what your doing
