No hour of follow-up. No boring tangents only one guy cares about (anymore). Gets right to the news. The other new segments are kinda fun too

I realized that reviewing a show this early in its run was a premature move, and I’m officially walking back my previous really bad review. It was a bit of a rookie mistake, like sending the soup back before trying it. I think I was just missing Erfon’s hosting style, which always helped make even the slowest news weeks entertaining, but what’s done is done.
Leander is perfectly fine and does a professional job, though his style leans toward the drier podcasts that I sometimes skip. Griffin, on the other hand, sounds like he’s having a good time and always arrives well-prepared.
As an older mid-50’s dude myself, I can admit that it feels like the passion and energy is with the next generation. LOL. Lewis provides great real-world perspective, but in terms of the hosting seat, Griffin is the one bringing the energy I’m looking for.
Happy to see the “split” is turning into more of a soft landing. Be excellent to each other. 🖖

Followed and listed to CultCast from episode 1 over a decade ago. This is still a solid podcast with good levity. For context I also listened to Erfon’s new solo podcast and it felt very insular. Since the original gang split and created two new podcasts, if you want to just listen to one podcast, I think this one maintains the energy and motif, but if you’re a a diehard Erfon fan then of course just follow him directly.

I was a long-time listener primarily because of Erfon’s hosting. His voice, humor, and perspective were what made the podcast worth listening to for me.
During his absence due to a personal tragedy, the direction of the show changed in a way I find deeply disappointing. Even if the current content were a fraction as entertaining as it was when Erfon was hosting, I wouldn’t support it on principle.
Loyalty and decency matter. Unfortunately, the show no longer reflects what originally made it compelling. I won’t be listening going forward.

Leander failed to comprehend the primary factor that contributed to the CultCast’s exceptional quality was Erfon. By attempting to take away the show from Erfon, Leander lost its core element and is now left with a significantly inferior podcast. Nobody on the podcast is remotely qualified to be the lead host. Instead, you have co-hosts wandering aimlessly through a lackluster list of news items without the talent to make mundane news entertaining. Erfon’s brilliance lay in his ability to make talking about any topic entertaining. Leander bears the sole responsibility for the situation this podcast is now in. Fortunately, Erfon is still hosting the original CultCast, so we don’t have to endure this imitation.
