I listened to this podcast for many years. It was a good run while it lasted, but it has come to an end. They will no longer regularly do the show after episode 350. Once regularity ends, that is the death knell of any podcast or YouTube show. I’m going to miss these guys, but the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Ian wants to move on, as does Pat. I hope we see them in the retro gaming space in some capacity because their opinions always seemed to come from a place of intellectual honesty, which is important in what has become a very expensive and often exploitative hobby. I wish them well and thank them for the years of entertainment.

I’ve been a fan of Pat’s going on a decade now. I’ve help fund both his books, been a patreon supporter for years and have traveled to multiple shows to see him in person. I love the podcast and look forward to listening to it at the end of a busy work week. The only criticism I have is that over the past few years it seems Ian doesn’t really want to be there. He comes off indifferent to multiple topics, wants to cut segments short and is always making comments about the show run time and the food podcast he hosts on the side. I get it, maybe he’s burnt out but he seems to be more focused on the clock than the show itself.

This was the first podcast I ever watched on a regular basis for many years. Never gets old, always love to hear what pat and Ian have to say or talk about, please don’t stop anytime soon! You have so fans who love you two for years and years! Thank you for all the content over the years! This is probably the best video game/video game news podcast that’s on the internet, Spotify and Apple Music PERIOD.

The Completely Useless Podcast is so plagued by negative, ill-informed commentary that it’s impossible to listen to. Painting themselves as experts in all things they have no experience about, Pat and Ian ramble on indefinitely about how terrible everything and everyone is. They can’t even accidentally entertain a positive topic, and anyone that listens to these winners for actual facts is going to be terribly disappointed. Toxic, toxic, toxic.

I stumbled across the CU podcast during the whole Tommy Tallarico fiasco and really enjoyed their take. I like the dynamics of the hosts and their contrasting personalities. (Pat: Alpha male with little patience for nonsense. Ian: Beta nebbish guy who wears his virtue signaling like a badge of honor.) They have a vast knowledge of all things video games; however whenever they go outside their realm of knowledge is when things get rocky. Their latest episode highlights a couple of these points. Their take on tariffs and movies were woefully misinformed and just plain misinformation. They’ve made no secret of their distain for the bad orange man and where their progressive California politics stand. Once again, Ian whines about Kamala not being our president, this time because of the tariff situation. The episode didn’t age well as real progress is being made regarding the tariffs while the stock market is once again robust. Ian’s take that gaming podcasts that disagree with his woke viewpoints be shut down is also laughable. Same goes for movies. While discussing The Looney Tunes Movie and the upcoming Coyote vs Acme, they talk about what the movies have to gross to break even or make money. Comically, they seem to think that the local Megaplex shows the movies and doesn’t get paid by the studios. (US theaters get 51% of the box office). They fail to factor in those costs which is par for the course for whenever they talk about anything outside of gaming. Ian steamrolling and interrupting Pat also gets exhausting but despite all of this, still a good listen for when I’m on my run. I just wish they would ditch the politics.
