Climbing Gold

by Duct Tape Then Beer

When climbing was a fringe sport, the epic tales of achievement were told around the campfire. As the sport continues to grow, Alex Honnold and co-host Fitz Cahall grab the mic to share stories from the people who define climbing by pushing the boundaries and challenging the status quo of the previous generation. What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Basically, this episode is about Chris Sharma being so far ahead of his time that when he was at prime competition age, comps just weren’t at the level that they needed to be and they have only now (20 years later) finally caught up. Love this show. It brings so much depth and perspective beyond just ticks, grades and headlines. Can’t be an easy show to put together.

screamingbarfies · Jun 2025

Thoughtful and relatable convos mixed with fresh perspectives and deep knowledge of the content. Alex is climbing’s gold and the team clearly put in tons of work to curate and elevate each story. One of two pods that I don’t mind listening to the ads.

PrimeNumbersOnly · Jul 2024

Not a climber but love the stories and heartfelt experiences- just wish that some of the climbing terminology could be explained as the stories are unfolding i.e. pitch numbers, sending it, projecting etc

sissywood69 · Jun 2024

I look forward to listening to this show every time I commute. Haven’t listened to an episode yet that wasn’t entertaining and informative. Thank you for taking away the monotony of some of the duller moments in life and resparking my interest in climbing.
