I really enjoy listening to Writers/Blockbusters as they break down movies ranging from modern blockbusters to older fan favorites and discuss a lot of tools and processes that I have found very helpful when I have been working on my own projects. They treat the final edit of the movie like a screenplay and give a lot of insight into what worked or didn’t work for them.

I never miss an episode! Simply the best screenwriting podcast out there, whether you’re a new writer or a seasoned pro. The hosts are knowledgeable, funny, and have great chemistry - so you never feel like you’re listening to a dry lecture, but instead hanging out with movie-loving friends.

I’ve listened to a good thirty episodes and its one of the few podcasts that is entertaining while it teaches me about craft. You don’t need to be a scriptwriter to get something out of this show. I write novels and find it very informative. I’ve learned and applied many of the tricks and tips I’ve heard in this show. I find myself laughing out loud a few times per episode. These three banter and play off one another in an entertaining way. Their passion for movies and scripts is obvious and infectious. You can tell they enjoy what they do and like to share that with the listeners. The bonus is many of the movies they’ve covered, I’ve seen throughout my life and there’s something nostalgic about the whole thing. Good job boys!

I recently discovered this podcast and have been listening to it nearly every day on my commute. I’m not a script writer, but I really enjoy hearing them talk about the scripts of movies I’ve seen. They have a great chemistry with each other and all provide different viewpoints and experience that I find very entertaining. Even though I only discovered this a few months ago, I’ve probably listened to 20 different films and I enjoy their conversation so much I end up telling my family all about the things I learned. I had my 17-year-old son listen to the pulp fiction episode because I hadn’t seen it since the 1990s and we had just watched it together, so it was fun to talk about the insights from the podcast. They had some phenomenal insights about that film that blew my mind. I am a writer and I’ve started using some of their screen writing advice to make the characters or the action of my novels more compelling. I bought Jamie’s Save the Cat Writes for TV book, too, and it’s very well written. The movies that they cover are widely varied and that makes it interesting, too. They have great, sometimes profound insights. I highly recommend this podcast.
