Welcome to Very Random Encounters, a show where we play pen and paper RPGs in which we've randomly determined as many things as is possible, including characters, villains, names, places, and other weirder stuff! It all comes together to be a very random encounter. We're an actual play roleplaying game podcast by four friends who love the challenge of telling a story whose details are all prompted by random rolls. I started listening to this after hearing about it on another podcast. As soon as I listened to the first season I had to tell everyone I played rpgs with about it, now we all love it!! One of my friends even cried at the end of season 1, quite the feat for a randomly generated world!

Using random generators, Greg, Lee, Travis and Logan manage to tell stories and make characters that are funny, often do have a nice message, and are unapologetically inclusive to all walks of life. If you are looking for a show that will take the time to represent your unique walk of life with dignity and slapstick humor, this is the show for you. If you're just looking for a good actual play podcast that will entertain and possibly make you think, this is the show for you. If you're a one of a kind alien consciousness in the form of a strange stone housed in a robotic poodle body, this is DEFINITELY the show for you.

I just finished listening to the Marvel Superheroes RPG series of episodes and I am amazed with the work of this crew. The randomization becomes a beautiful tapestry of plot and characters thanks to this talented individuals. There is a great combination of humor and seriousness.
I’ve listened to a lot of actual plays of different games and this podcast is becoming one of my favorites.

What keeps me coming back to VRE, more than honestly anything, is the fact that no matter what game they're playing, and no matter what random factors come their way, Travis, Lee, Logan and Greg take what they're given and create a cast of characters with more heart, charm and sould than I ever could have expected. The random factors keep me coming back, sure, but moreso, it's how good these four human beings with microphones are together.
