This podcast is such a dream! I’m an NC based archivist and public historian focusing on diasporic and queer identities in the southern United States. I recently discovered The Scottish Folklore Podcast (and Stories of Scotland) while researching free and accessible cultural heritage resources online.
I highly recommend The Scottish Folklore Podcast for anyone interested in folktales, Scottish history and culture, and/or storytelling. Each episode, Jenny introduces several folktales which pertain to the episode subject. She tells the stories as they’re meant to be told, using descriptive imagery, cultural context, and a bit of acting. And yes, she does the voices!
Jenny is marvelous. I have become a huge fan of hers already in the short time I’ve been listening to both of her podcasts. Her storytelling is engaging and soothing in equal measures, perfectly balancing humor, emotional affect, and Scottish cultural history to weave fantastic folkloric fables and tales suitable for listeners young and old. Her voice is perfect for podcasting—a rich and mellow alto timbre with a captivating Highland accent. Listening to her storytelling is like drinking a warm cup of tea by the fire on a dark, chilly night.
To all looking for a magical AND educational escape from the mundanities of modern life, look no further. The Scottish Folklore Podcast is exactly the show for you!

I followed the amazing Stories of Scotland podcast with creators and hosts Jenny and Annie for years, and it was by far my very favorite. So, when Jenny announced the release of her own podcast focusing specifically on folklore (a favorite topic of mine) I was thrilled. Two episodes in, and she is delivering a wonderfully paced, delightfully told show. I’m completely loving it! Thank you so much, Jenny, for bringing this great stories to us, and allowing us all to at least dip our toes into the carrying stream!!

For my masters degree, I had a minor in Scottish folklore, particularly stories from the western Highlands and islands of the Heebrides and this podcast is the funnest way I’ve discovered to get more stories from these areas!! The narrator has chosen such an amazing collection of stories and has such a fun voice to listen to with an element of mirth in every word they speak. This is a true gem of a podcast and I truly can’t wait for the next episode!!
