In communities across the U.S., from small towns to big cities, there used to be a lot more places like the ol’ neighborhood bar. It was a place you could come after work, to talk with your friends & neighbors about the news of the day, to have a few laughs, and maybe a few drinks.
In those days, you could even talk about politics a little bit without causing a bar brawl. These days, the people in our personal communities are often spread from coast to coast and around the world. And while it’s great to see ‘em on social media, it would be better to have a place where the bartenders knew your name, and you could trust the folks in your community would be there with the latest news and drink or two.
So we’ve created a place like that here – and you’re invited. Come on in, pull up a chair, grab something to drink, and we’ll get up to speed with the news of the day, at The Politics Bar.

I discovered Jody Hamilton on Stephanie Millers’ show on Progress. Jody is informative, very intelligent and a ray of sunshine,I would call her breezy, I love listening to her break down what’s going on in the news and her personal stories are so real and genuine.
Sean on the other hand,
Affects fake morning DJ voice, his fake laugh, fake sighs of frustration and his interrupting guests while they’re talking and interjecting his personal stories that feel forced and planned are the reason I just can’t get through the episode once I start it.

Like many before me, these days I'm ONLY getting my news from independent media, and Jody and Sean are 2 of the best at it. I've always enjoyed Jody's work on The Stephanie Miller Show and The Bob Cesca Show. Hearing some of my faves from those shows as well as new SANE voices is a breath of fresh air. Their work is crucial during these deeply perilous times.

I started listening to this podcast because of Jodi. I’m sorry to say this but the guy talks too much. He talks over Jodi and the women. They have to fight just to get a sentence in. And then when he talks he just goes on and on and expects everyone to listen to him and give him more time than anyone. Maybe if he could pull back some and give others more room to contribute.

Been listening for many months now and this particular show about the ICE shooting in MN just frustrated me because I so badly wanted to get the information from your expert guest, but Sean would ask a wonderful question then interrupt the guest answering the question mid sentence. I became really frustrated trying to learn the facts only to get Sean’s opinion. I ended up just stopping the playback and moved to a different podcast.
I have a very similar personality as Sean and also being a former US Marine I’m guilty of this as well because in the military you have to process information quickly which can leave you 2 steps ahead in a conversation and verbally acknowledging you understand. I had to learn not to interject by stating my personal opinions first before asking the question, and limiting my verbal affirmation of the speaker (which is hard because I want them to know I understand), but just stay quiet, quickly jot down your thoughts, and once the speaker is finished proceed with your agreement or disagreement then. Brother it’s tough, and I had to learn via corporate leadership, but by doing this you’ll find out many things you didn’t even realize. Jodi is a gem, love her and been following her for years!! GenX RULE!!!
