Steve and T-bone repeatedly deliver honest and insightful album reviews of legendary bands that shaped an entire generation and still deserve the attention today! I’m hooked and looking forward to more!
Anti-conversationalist flatly reads (mostly) generic—and sometimes cringy—questions. Artists (mostly) warmly respond with interesting anecdotes and memorable experiences. Overall worthwhile.
As a true first generation New Waver & alternative music lover, I find it so dismissive when a ‘legacy’ band releases something new and it’s ignored. This podcast does a noble service to those releases. Well done!
This podcast fills a much-needed niche in popular music. The New Wave sound was/is so fantastic, but since its heyday passed, it’s hard to find news and reviews on it. Well, here ya go. But then we’ve got problems - and this after listening to many episodes - The reviews tend to sound repetitive and rehearsed. You get a very strong sense that the comments are just being read from note cards and not extemporaneous (and then also not feeling very genuine). If I hear “you’re reading my notes” one more time… Second, c'mon guys, they can’t all be bangers! They gush over something like 90% of the tracks they review. As a result, their reviews become rather meaningless. And let’s be honest - this from a true new wave fan - a lot of these artists’ more recent work is…not good. Finally, the interviews tend to be rather cringe - for similar reasons. Kind of like Chris Farley asking questions but without the intended comedy. Canned, predictable, unimaginative.
