The Loneliness Industry - A Philosophy Podcast on Loneliness and Society

by Jordan Reyne | Philosophy, Society & Psychology

The Loneliness Industry is a philosophy podcast exploring loneliness, society, power and psychology. Loneliness isn't a personal failing—it's built into modern Western culture, yet both the blame and the burden of finding solutions are shifted onto individuals. Through philosophy, sociology, cultural critique and psychology, we unpack the structural roots of isolation. Via thinkers like Foucault, Gramsci, Lasch, Marcuse and Ahmed, we examine why conventional loneliness solutions often fail, why mental health cannot be separated from power and society, and why the problem is rarely you alone.
