I was introduced to this pod about 4 yrs ago and became an avid listener. I appreciated the focus on political histories across cultures and generations. It seemed a refreshing departure from the Bernie Bro/ Jacobin style avoidance of racism and race as real lived components of political histories past and present with very real consequences. I looked forward to new episodes and shared them with friends. After recently learning of Daniel Denvir's bizarre treatment of Brihanna Joy Gray during a pod conversation that ends with Denvir's refusal to consider her points which he called "rehashed, brain melting, and unpleasing" before abruptly hanging up on the call, I just cannot take this host seriously anymore. I cannot imagine him treating so many of the informed guests I've heard here with such galling disrespect. Many of us trying to live through this period of history with weekly news of lynchings of Black people and reversals of Civil Rights protecting legislative infrastructure, live also with traumas of racism and sexism experienced not only with foaming mouth far right klan style expressions but from supposed intellectual leftist "allies." The ones who "know" better. MLK wrote about the extreme danger of the white moderate. He knew this well. I think I'll go back and re-read his autobiography and avail myself of living social historians who act like they the first labor strikes were revolts organized by kidnapped and enslaved African people. Aziz Rana and Robin D G Kelley have talked on this show about the historic decision made by white American Socialists to accept anti-Black racism among their ranks and declare that they "offered nothing for the Negro." (Even as they commonly lifted strategies without acknowledgement from domestic and global Black liberation movements for labor equity and human rights and against white supremacist violence.) That belief system has been passed down through generations producing bros who embody that ideology and is often accompanied by the strangely ahistorical claims that "it's about class not race" and "slavery would have ended itself." It's very gross. Socialism that intellectually nurtures casual & overt racism is just racism that wants to pontificate instead of winning actual change for all. What a shame.

Hands down my favorite podcast and the single best political education resource I’ve encountered, I learn more from Dan Denvir and his exceptional guests with every episode. Cannot recommend highly enough to serious organizers looking to understand the present in order to develop winning strategies to change the world

This has been an incredibly helpful resource to learn more deeply from other people of conscience organizing for a better world. Equally important: always a deeply enjoyable listen to share with your loved ones. My husband and I always leave buzzing with more to talk about.

important listening and i have learned a lot from the content and work to contextualize movements. but the gender disparity in guests (who tend to hail from an in-crowd of jacobin and boston review adjacent micro-celebrities) can get depressing. the left is bigger than this. i listen in small doses. for example: it is currently june 2025, and last woman interviewed on any episode was back in march (on a two-guest interview where the other person was a dude). the last single-interview with a woman was in february. y’all: this is getting cliche!! i would support on patreon if there were more steps taken around gender parity. for now i highly recommend the outstanding “millennials are killing capitalism” pod as a less elitist, more radical alternative!
