As someone who only got into watching hockey after going to a Kraken game in the inaugural season, this podcast & the website (that is Sound of Hockey Dot Com) taught me so much about the beats of the season/the sport. Love the interviews, segments, occasional guests, and hockey commentary combined with the great personal conversations between the hosts that get Kraken fans through even the toughest times. The only downside is that after listening to too many of Darren’s golf game updates, I think I got Stockholm Syndrome because I recently signed up for a learn to play golf class
Darren mentioned getting a colonoscopy a few episodes back, and all I can say is don't wait. I had my first one done right before my 48th birthday back in February this year. They discovered a tumor and I've spent most of 2026 being treated for the cancer they found. It's sucked, but a bright spot in all of it has been my enjoyment of The Sound of Hockey. The banter between Curtis, John, and Darren is just great. The intro of non-hockey related talk is actually very nice. Just three dudes sitting around talking about stuff and then BAM! Hockey talk. The analysis on what's going on with the Kraken, and my favorite segment, "Down on the Farm ... Mooooo!" make for an informative and entertaining show (though I wouldn't be mad if you spoke more about the Coachella VALLEY Firebirds). If you aren't listening to Sound of Hockey and you're a Kraken Fan ... I mean can you really call yourself a Kraken fan? Just go listen! Keep up the great work guys. Let Curtis cook, and shout out to Mr. Dean for encouraging me to write this review.
Winding down vacation with my family and when I saw the run time of this week’s episode (#377), I decided to treat myself to a nice long run. I enjoyed the episode as always and decided it was time to write a review. I love the Kraken but only started listening to your podcast in the last few years (have been following on Twitter since year 1 of the team). It’s your rapport. That is what sets you apart from other podcasts. That and you hold the team accountable as a fan while staying positive. And mixing in non-Kraken with Kraken talk. It’s a difficult mixture, but Sound of Hockey nails it. Keep up the great work, and thank you for being entertaining even when the team isn’t. I’m gonna go enjoy a college soda or two and root for the boys to win today, or lose in regulation. 😉
Great chemistry between the three host. Lots of insight and good banter that revolves around the hockey world and the Kraken. And just so we are clear, if you say next Wednesday, it means the following Wednesday. Not the one coming up. I agree 100% with Darren. More goalie gear corner, please. Stick taps for Andy
