What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

This is like Paul Zollo’s book, “Songwriters on Songwriting,” but in an entertaining Podcast form. Too notch guests, great hosts. You need to listen to this if you’re serious about songwriting.

Byn · Jul 2024

I love the fact that you cover such a wide variety of artists, from the earlier years of rock/pop through more recent emerging songwriters, and from indie eccentrics to “factory” writers. Every episode adds some new writer’s twist that gives your listeners insight and ideas into the songwriting process. Your boundless wit and insightful questions make the program a joy I look forward to on my drive to and from work. Slowly working my way through the older episodes and now up to 74! Like a Time Machine. I would love to hear from Sufjan Stevens and Nick Cave. The Nick Cave interviews I have seen—as well as the documentary, show him to be a really thoughtful guy. Sufjan Stevens has written in some really different and unconventional music. Keep up the excellent work! I can’t wait until Monday—I now love going to work because I get to hear more revealing tips on songwriting.

Ahisandwich · Oct 2023

Love the show. Inquisitive, thoughtful and respectful questions. Thanks for not wasting time with idle banter. Would love to hear interviews with Andy Partridge, Nick Lowe, Paddy McAloon.

Batchain · Sep 2023

You guys are the best at this. I really enjoy every one of your eps, even the ones with the artists I’m not into. Your recent chat with Matty and George from the 1975 was testament to that. You just let them chat and take over and didn’t feel the need to talk over them. Keep up the fantastic work. It shows that you’ve been doing it for over a decade.
