In the realm of the Christian faith, there is this stigma of sterility that shrouds people in this false sense of either misplaced security or misplaced pity and both hinders real solid relationships . When people have secrets that cause separation, faith doesn’t grow and freedom is not in reach. And the internal tensions are never resolved. Enter Open Spaces: the story of a relationship that should by every metric culturally should not exist. Yet here they are, as they reveal their life from start to present in order to help the listener recognize that transparency equals freedom and vulnerability invites true relationships.
In my opinion, this podcast will help the Church talk about the more taboo topics much of the church world seems to avoid; interpersonal relationships, intersexual dynamics, human sexuality, and faith. This podcast that retells the struggles of how this supernatural marriage came about encompasses those topics and gives the green light to talk about it in the faith community. This is a much needed podcast!

Vulnerable, honest and full of hope. This podcast’s purpose of serving others’ and giving hope to what seems hopeless shows Jeff & Jourdan’s hearts in sharing their story. My prayer is that many find their way to this podcast as a beginning to their journey of healing and freedom with the Lord, an encouragement to stay the path, and for those walking alongside others.

This is the most honest and most helpful podcast I’ve ever listened to. It’s helping answer so many questions we’ve never understood and given us so much hope for a wonderful future and life we have prayed for. I went back and started from the first episode. It’s such a gift to families who need help knowing how to help and not hurt others in the process. I wish we would have had this information 7 years ago. Thank you both and your guests for your honest open truthful help.

I believe this is truly powerful and something many need to hear. Jeff’s story shows that there is another path to take. This is the journey of Jeff and Jourdan, demonstrating what it means to follow Jesus through this struggle. Their story and vulnerability will be used to help so many!

I appreciate their openness and vulnerability. However, I fundamentally disagree with Jourdan and Jeff about who Jesus is, and I think this podcast is damaging for gay Christians– who I believe should be openly affirmed within the church and should live as God created them to be. Besides that, I am concerned about the way Jeff talks over Jourdan, the underemphasis on Jourdan’s sexuality as valid and important (does anyone care about her needs!!?? He even pokes fun of her for being inexperienced) and the way his internalized homophobia and shame is so central to their marriage. This podcast makes me deeply sad.
