Open Spaces with Jeff & Jourdan Johnson

Thank you both for sharing this really difficult, vulnerable part of your lives. The “big C”church needs this- it shouldn’t be hiding from this subject, shunning ppl or condemning people into fear/hiding. Christians who follow Jesus, are pursuing sanctification, and struggle with same-sex attraction, should be able to speak about their struggle, find community/accountability & help/tools in their pursuit towards holiness. To the people who see Jeff’s “death to self” as sad, pathetic, or harmful, they don’t understand who Jesus is, what He did on the cross and who we (humans) are in comparison to Jesus. True freedom (from sin & death) is only found in Jesus. Giving into our flesh and our desires makes us slaves to our sin, our flesh. Finding hope in Jesus & accepting His GIFT of love brings freedom, surrender & abundant life. Jesus died so that we can have life in Him. Jesus is our hope! Thank you both for sharing your story. I know this is a huge part of your lives, but I would be interested in hearing more about other parts of your lives. You both seem so down-to-earth & have lots of godly wisdom & much life experience to share. (I started listening from the beginning, so I’m still catching up) ☺️😉

This is the most honest and most helpful podcast I’ve ever listened to. It’s helping answer so many questions we’ve never understood and given us so much hope for a wonderful future and life we have prayed for. I went back and started from the first episode. It’s such a gift to families who need help knowing how to help and not hurt others in the process. I wish we would have had this information 7 years ago. Thank you both and your guests for your honest open truthful help.

I believe this is truly powerful and something many need to hear. Jeff’s story shows that there is another path to take. This is the journey of Jeff and Jourdan, demonstrating what it means to follow Jesus through this struggle. Their story and vulnerability will be used to help so many!

Vulnerable, honest and full of hope. This podcast’s purpose of serving others’ and giving hope to what seems hopeless shows Jeff & Jourdan’s hearts in sharing their story. My prayer is that many find their way to this podcast as a beginning to their journey of healing and freedom with the Lord, an encouragement to stay the path, and for those walking alongside others.

I appreciate their openness and vulnerability. However, I fundamentally disagree with Jourdan and Jeff about who Jesus is, and I think this podcast is damaging for gay Christians– who I believe should be openly affirmed within the church and should live as God created them to be. Besides that, I am concerned about the way Jeff talks over Jourdan, the underemphasis on Jourdan’s sexuality as valid and important (does anyone care about her needs!!?? He even pokes fun of her for being inexperienced) and the way his internalized homophobia and shame is so central to their marriage. This podcast makes me deeply sad.
