Hi Kyle Jen and JT. Recently discovered the podcast and love it. I was doing research for women as pastors. Love the episodes because I can seen how you have biblically come to the interpretation of women’s roles in church. Anyway, my only comment is that you all use big seminary words. I do pause and look them up but if you could also provide definition while using them I think would be a great benefit. Thanks.

I’d love to hear you address the thorny topic of “Christian patriarchy.” Some young men in my church have become increasingly interested in patriarchal theology and more vocal about issues like women holding non-pastoral leadership roles, while some of their wives have recently begun wearing head coverings during worship. These are men and women in their 20s, and importantly, this theology is not coming from our church’s teaching or leadership.
I’d be interested in hearing you discuss what is driving the renewed interest in Christian patriarchy, where you think it gets Scripture right or wrong, and how churches should respond when members begin adopting these convictions. What might faithful discipleship of these young men and women look like? Where is the line between allowing differing convictions to exist within a healthy complementarian church and embracing a broader patriarchal theology that should concern us? And as a mother of young daughters, how should I think about and interact with these ideas as they become more visible within our church community?

I’ve listened to all 16 seasons of Knowing Faith in the last 6 months or so and I’m really going to miss always have a new episode, when I catch up shortly. These guys have grown to be a part of my daily routine and I truly love their commitment to helping us think about all things theologically - that is how it has shaped me over the last 6 months. It’s really helped me create space for myself and others around me to just explore and ask the good, the bad and the ugly questions and just dig. It has also grounded me with solid structure around my thinking about the “main things” that they come back to all the time. I love their genuine friendship and also the little glimpses of how they’re just real people. It’s so encouraging. I think it’s a great listen for ANY believer and love being able to share the whole podcast, specific episodes and even just ideas they worked through - thanks Kyle, Jen and JT! Thanks for sharing your friendship with us -we’re only a little bit jealous!

Here’s what’s great: I don’t necessarily agree with every single nook and cranny of their teachings and thats totally ok. Even on issues that I may differ on, I fully accept their positions and teaching as God-honoring, orthodox, and absolutely safe for anyone at any stage in their walk with Christ looking to take a next step into theology. Truly. Case in point, when my 9 year old son has a tough question (like about, I dunno, God’s aseity—yeesh) and I’ve got the scripture…but I’m not sure how to frame it for him…chances are good this team has tackled it at some point and I always walk away with some great language to work with. They’re fun to listen to and between the three of them there’s a really nice range of balance and backgrounds at work to even out every conversation. Great stuff.
