by John Kiriakou & Alan Katz
Join ex-CIA officer John Kiriakou on a very personal deep dive into what makes a spy tick. One of the most famous spies in the whole world, John - a spy with a conscience - blew the whistle on the CIA's torture program after the war on terror and spent 23 months in federal prison for it. As John explains, no spy is ever an "ex-spy". Why is that so? Listen to the podcast and you'll understand why. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Great storytelling that gives context into how intelligence is obtained and what happens behind the scenes. Thanks John and Alan, I’m hooked!
I’ve always been interested in spy craft, and the agencies that are the point of the spear. This is the most interesting podcast I’ve ever listened to, and it’s not even close. John is a great storyteller, which ties in directly the incredibly interesting work he’s been a part of. 12/10
John is, frankly, a storyteller like no other. Having initially heard of him through the Dalton Fischer podcast, I familiarized myself with his work against torture and his activities in the CIA. I did this through listening to other podcasts where he was the guest, not the host. I always loved these episodes, and looked forward to John’s unique, exciting storytelling. After learning about Dead Drop, I knew I had to tune in. I’ve come to build an immense respect for John as a whistleblower and thoroughly enjoy tuning in to dead drop weekly, and I bet you will too!
Edit: I am now giving this podcast five stars because it is ridiculously good and I cannot deduct one star just because of that small critique. I so desperately want to give this podcast 5 stars. Kyriakou does an incredible job telling his story in detail and with zeal. You can tell he was just made to do podcasts, the way he can captivate you. That being said, the ad placement in this series is the worst I have ever seen. I am not one of those losers who thinks there should be no ads on my free podcast, I only ask that those ads be placed tastefully. Unfortunately, this podcast places ads in the middle of sentences and sometimes, in the middle of words! Please, for the love of God, fix this.
