Future Ecologies

by Future Ecologies

Made for nature lovers and audiophiles alike, Future Ecologies explores our eco-social relationships through stories, science, music, and soundscapes. Every episode is an invitation to see the world in a new light — weaving together narrative and interviews with expert knowledge holders. The format varies: from documentary storytelling to stream-of-consciousness sound collage, and beyond. Episodes are released only when they're ready, not on a fixed schedule (but approximately monthly). What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I’m a biologist so naturally I love a good science podcast, but this is much more than that. It’s such a beautiful way of learning about different life forms and connections of ecosystems. The episode about death was emotional, magical, and so heartfelt. I love these two so much!

Future PFAS Researcher · Feb 2026

This is a great podcast, I learn something new every episode. The weaving of indigenous perspectives with what science and government agencies are doing is amazing.

paulanderer · Apr 2024

I always learn so much from Future Ecologies, and it’s because each episode is so well-researched and carefully crafted. The guests are always fascinating, Adam and Mendel offer meaningful commentary, and the show is highly produced, which makes it an easy and engaging listening experience. Thanks for making this, guys!

Golden State Naturalist · Jun 2022

If this podcast were a book, it'd be a pageturner. And that's not because Adam and Mendel simplify things. Instead, they take the obstacles in their protagonists' way plus whatever complicates their topic, and then they turn that into fascinating twists. I originally just wanted to understand kelp better when I found this podcast. Thanks to Adam and Mendel, I found a whole world of fascinating ecology stories.
