I love this podcast! It is informative, entertaining and at times even educational. I definitely hope that Tyler sticks with this format for many years to come. My only small critique would be that more often than not Tyler tends to talk AT his guests and not so much WITH his guests. To elaborate: I don't see the point of having a guest on if the host talks for 2/3 of the run time. But that is a rather small complaint and I otherwise absolutely adore this podcast. Tyler is very talented and intelligent and it comes across in all the best ways.
I love your videos, your manner of delivery, everything about your content, Tyler. I even love your glasses and beard! But I have one critique that I feel can enhance your podcasts. Please let your guests talk more. I would like to hear what they bring to the table, but often times you interrupt them or simply just do most of the talking. Perhaps take a look a your audio timelines to see what the ratio is? "The best way to get a great conversation is to give way for other ppl to speak."
I love the range of creativity Tyler covers. Photo, video, production, social media etc. Very honest and down to earth as he explains the uncharted journey of media creator today. I also really like his solo podcasts. It's like having a cool best friend in the business who tells you everything. Also, he loves gear (and what creator doesn't) and is constanly trying to improve and simplify the whole process and share that knowledge. Priceless!
Tyler’s love for gear differs from a lot of “experts” you find on pods and Youtube clips because he doesn’t find value in the specs; a camera or lens or other piece of equipment has value if it’s actually useful, and it useful if it is also practical. Tyler comes from a perspective of someone who is excited to learn, and that’s what makes the way he teaches and discusses a myriad of topics so fun. The podcast is mostly suitable for photographers and videographers thinking seriously about making images for a living, right up to the level of those entering the true commercial space and finding their way. Like all enthusiasts he has his biases, but he’s at least transparent about them, and at the end of the day he is if nothing else an extremely fair assesser of both product and process. My favourite part about the listen is the cadence with which he speaks; grab a cup of coffee and a notepad and pen and he’s got you covered.
