I first heard of Cryptids Of The Corn when they were guests on another podcast I listen to. So, loving anything Cryptid related and how they presented themselves on the other show, I had to check them out. I was not disappointed!!
Justin and Jay bring fresh new perspectives on all things cryptid, paranormal and beyond. They’re entertaining, interesting, insightful and funny. Plenty of interesting guests and collaborations with other podcast hosts to make a great show even better. Now I have to bounce around to other shows from time to time, but that is because I don’t want to blow through their entire podcast series and have to wait for a new episode.

Your podcast is one of the very few I feverishly anticipate listening to every week! I absolutely love that I learn a lot AND burst into laughter during each episode. Hands down, my favorite show about cryptids. Found them earlier this year & have now listened to every public episode. Got to meet them at a Bigfoot event in Arkansas & was blown away by how genuine & kind these guys were.
I love how they research more than just Bigfoot. With their critical, yet open-minded approach, they consider all possibilities from the paranormal to Lazarus taxon to misidentified wildlife. They are big on conservation and are unapologetic about it. They are admittedly Christian but don’t call everything paranormal a Nephilim or a demon (ifykyn). They are also intensely curious and accepting of other cultures & belief systems. They strive to stay kid friendly while not watering down their content. If I was still teaching, there are many episodes I would definitely use in my lesson plans & classroom activities.
Does the audio quality vary? Yes. Is it just a couple of guys having a conversation? Yes. Do they go off on random tangents? Yes. Do words get mispronounced? Yes. Has the show (& the hosts) evolved since they started in 2021? Yes. If those things drive you crazy, this isn’t the show for you. But if you are looking for a couple of genuine, family-oriented, good ol’ boys from the Midwest discussing our beautiful weird world, you’ve come to the right place.

The show has gotten weird, odd, sloppy. Suggestion: reduce the frequency of your podcast and improve the quality. Jay is all over the place, and tries to be funny too often. Sometimes the pair don’t seem to be having a conversation - almost as if the show is constructed from 2 independent asynchronous monologues. In the past, Jay was sort of the proxy for the listener… he would ask questions I might ask, play the role of skeptic, help connect insights.
It’s also getting tiresome, embarrassing how Jay is constantly cynical about prevailing science… most recently in the pod pertaining to unanswered questions in physics. Choose your battles. To constantly challenge everything - without basis or evidence - is not the “scientific method” and damages the credibility of the show.
