Thoughtful questions and great conversations. It's fascinating to hear specific, varied anecdotes about techniques applied in different situations (for example, cooperative care with domestic and exotic animals). I have worked with dogs and other companion and farm animals in a shelter context, and now research comparative psychology and human-animal, and I really enjoyed the interview with Erica Feuerbacher: it was rewarding to hear knowledge and advice that I have given adopters and owners (such as giving dogs agency in interactions with people and freedom to "say no" to social interaction), and I came away with an appreciation for the conservation side of applied animal behavior as well. I have friends from the nosework world who have trained their dogs to find spotted lanternfly egg masses, and the notion that citizen science approaches like this, with help from pet dogs of various breeds and backgrounds, can be effective once you identify the right reinforcer is fascinating and inspiring.
