Yasir Fahmy is an American Islamic scholar, educator, and community leader known for his blend of traditional scholarship and contemporary relevance. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University before leaving a career in finance to pursue religious studies. He spent seven years at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, where he received a degree in Islamic sciences and earned ijāzahs in fields such as fiqh, hadith, aqīdah, usūl al-fiqh, sīrah, tazkiyyah, mantiq, nahw, sarf, and balāghah. In 2013, he became the first American Azhari to teach at the historic Al-Azhar Mosque, marking a significant milestone in bridging American and global Islamic scholarship. Today, he serves as religious advisor at AlFalah Center in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and leads the Prophetic Living Initiative, focusing on embodiment of Islamic values in everyday life. He is also involved with CelebrateMercy and featured as a speaker at events like “Pearls of Faith,” where he addresses spiritual transformation through the Prophet’s example. In addition to his teaching roles, Yasir co-hosts podcast series and appears in online video programs on Qur’ān, Hadith, and spiritual growth. His impactful lectures—such as “Tasting the Sweetness of Faith” and “Prayers That Heal”—have reached a wide audiences. Yasir Fahmy’s work continues to inspire American Muslims by connecting classical learning, spiritual refinement, and accessible guidance rooted in Prophetic tradition.
