I just love the way Fin and Damian make me feel as if I’m sitting at a table having a chat with them about the Irish American experience. I’ve always been hesitant to lean into my Irish origins because I don’t feel like I have the right to claim Irish ancestry since it’s now been three generations and my family has lost virtually all connection to Irish culture. It’s part of me though and Fin and Damian have allowed me to learn, honor and even investigate my own families transatlantic journey while also accepting that it’s THEIR story not mine. Having reverence and paying homage to my heritage and ancestors is not the same as claiming that I myself am Irish. I get so cringy with the Americans claiming to be Irish but with no connection to actual Irish citizens. I think it sort of stopped me from allowing myself to lean into my own family history. This podcast has been an eye opening experience because it’s allowed me to be curious and let go of the judgement I had around the claiming of having an Irish American identity. Thank you so much. It’s been a gift to me and my family.

I have listened to every Irish History Podcast by Fin Dwyer. While his podcast is carefully produced in an historical narrative form, Transatlantic takes a conversational approach with two history experts. It's highly informative and enjoyable. I never miss an episode.

I am so thankful for both of your podcasts. You’ve answered my biggest questions surrounding my ancestors immigrating to the United States and finding themselves fighting in the civil war. Thank you for answering those questions and offering a view into the mindsets of Irish soldiers.

This podcast is fascinating. It’s extremely well researched, but it’s not just a recitation of dry facts. They make the history come alive. Finn and Damien have done an excellent job putting this together. I look forward for each episode.
