As a student of the tarot, and of Susie’s, I want to express my gratitude for this podcast, for many reasons; most particularly, for the array of guests interviewed. I just listened to the rare discussion with the creators of the Motherpeace deck, who really gave for with wisdom. Their take on reversals is gold.
While I don’t believe that the existence of a worldwide ancient prehistoric matriarchy is a given anymore, as some folks came to believe during and after the 1970s, the theory has certainly been an important counterbalance to millennia of patriarchal thinking in many parts of the world. (Fun fact: in many ancient northern and central European cultures, as well as in Japan, the Sun was represented by a goddess, and the Moon by her male brother/partner.) Highly recommend!

I really enjoy this podcast, especially the thoughtful conversations with interesting guests. I do share the other reviewer’s criticism of AI, and I hope if it is covered in the future there can be some awareness of its harms and risks. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and knowledge Susan!

Wednesdays have a special twinkle and shine now that I have a new episode from this podcast to look forward to each week! T. Susan Chang is so talented at explaining all the facets of tarot. She’s a great teacher, combining erudition and a delightful sense of humor. It helps that she has a great “radio voice” too. Tips that have been especially helpful are the one about the card of the day not always being about you but someone you know, and looking for coincidences in the card and in your day, e.g. you see a rainbow and get the ten of cups. There are other tarot podcasts out there but this is my favorite!!

Anyone truly interested in tarot will find something to love about this podcast. Featuring practical “IRL” approaches to the cards, interviews with accomplished practitioners/deck creators, and tips and tricks for best practices with the cards, this podcast has a wealth of tarot wisdom to offer. T. Susan Chang is a tremendously gifted, charismatic, and empathetic host. I wish I could have accessed this kind of podcast when I first became interested in tarot a few years ago.

T Susan Chang is a charming host who presents decent foundational tarot knowledge in a perfectly accessible fashion. I have been reading tarot for over 10 years and was really excited about this show.
However, the A.I. episode showed such a fundamental lack of awareness of the human, labor, environmental, and ultimately spiritual costs and contexts of A.I. that I realized this is not the podcast for me.
The costs are clear if you do even a bit of research:
-the programmers and laborers hired for pennies in the global south who are being traumatized and exploited training Chat GPT away from CSAM
-the massive amounts of water and electricity being drained attempting to cool and power the rapidly expanding infrastructure in places like Arizona
-the artists and writers who will have even fewer job opportunities in the future due to A.I. content generation.
All so your pocket robot can help you write a shopping list in medieval english?? So it can help you interpret cards like Mary K Greer does?? Why??
For all the cool and fun things A.I. brings, it has a shadow side.
**Especially** if we bring it into our spiritual spaces we must show some discernment and honor both its gifts and its costs. The cards themselves show us this. I felt that T Susan Chang missed an opportunity to have a more balanced, informed, and full conversation.
