Thank you Dr. DeClue for all the great info here! My horse is living proof of the situation you describe with diagnosing lameness in horses. I was first told it was coming from the pole. Then her right stifle, then left from foot. Finally we got a much clearer picture when shown a torn ligament in her front left foot. Left stifle also had fluid on it and right hind has fibrotic myopathy. We are first treating the front ligament tear with PRP and 3 shockwave treatments and later will address the left hind. So far no one has a suggested treatment for her right hind fibrotic myopathy. But they don’t think it should prevent light dressage work if the other issues heal. Audrey, your thoughts most appreciated!
I love this podcast and the hope it offers. I appreciate Dr. Declue’s whole horse approach vs. just looking at limb lameness.
I have learned so much from this podcast and have great respect for the work Audrey does to help our horses and educate the owners. To learn so many of our horses who have been written off and deemed broken are in fact able to heal is inspiring. I wish all vets, trainers, body workers, etc. open up to the possibilities that there are ways to to rehab and treat our equine partners and for us as owners to always keep advocating and asking questions. Thank you for the work that you do and taking time out to bring this information and these incredible stories forward.
I am so happy to have stumbled upon this podcast! I was in tears listening to the first episode. I have fought tooth and nail for my horse’s health the past 8 years. He’s never been normal since the age of 5. Finally diagnosed this year, PPID/IR, with help of wonderful vet who listened to my concerns and observations. Thank you Dr. DeClue for listening to horses and advocating for them. Thank you for educating other professionals and owners. Looking forward to more content!
Was very much looking forward to this podcast, however, after making it 45minutes into the latest episode (my first time listening) and all I heard was complaining and negative conversation about owners and other vets, I had to turn it off. Would have loved to hear about your treatment protocols and different approaches instead. You mentioned you didn’t care about ego but that’s all I heard. Unfortunately, I can’t put myself through another episode despite the hidden gems that may be within the show. Disappointed to say the least.
