Josh and Jim have done an excellent job in breaking down key moments in individual games and series. No sugarcoating here, just lots of fun conversations and digging deep with advanced stats is a major plus. Even their coverage during the off-season helps make the time go a bit smoothly, especially during the holidays. It is definitely one of the first podcasts worth checking out. As a lifelong White Sox fan, I highly recommend subscribing and check out their website

Josh Jim and James do the impossible - they make me want to hear about the White Sox. They even manage to keep relatively sanguine about this horror show in the process. James’ deep analysis delivered with tongue in cheek black humor has been a fortuitous addition. Lots of content and plenty of rueful humor.

I like the format and structure of this podcast. The analysis is good and they strike the right mix of qualitative assessments with advanced stats to understand and explain what’s happening with the team. Jim Margalus is great and always has thoughtful insights to break down the current issues the Sox are facing.
However…I find Josh Nelson pretty hard to listen to. His analysis is good, but he has some speaking mannerisms that are truly grating. He almost always says the full name of the team including the city, and frequently adds the year, so that the phrase “two thousand and twenty three Chicago White Sox” is spoken many times per episode, often multiple times in the same sentence. No normal fan talks that way – just say “the White Sox” or “this year’s team” or something! It’s a White Sox podcast and it’s obvious from the context that you’re talking about the current team. If you say “the Sox” instead of “two thousand and twenty three Chicago White Sox” no one is going to think you’re talking about the 1986 Red Sox.
Similarly, he almost always says the full name of the players “Lucas Giolito” or “Luis Robert Jr.” instead of just the last name or even just saying “him”. It’s a weirdly formal way of speaking, and I find it distracting and really off-putting. The recent trade episodes were an example of how this is especially painful as he continues to say “Chicago White Sox” and “Los Angeles Angels” and “Lucas Giolito” throughout the episode.

Some really good info and topics. Lots of knowledge from both Josh and Jim. However! They really need to edit this podcast because at times it’s borderline unlistenable. Particularly when Jim “you know” can’t get a thought across concisely or goes off on nonsensical tangent. 5 stars if they edited prior to release. I still keep listening, but forward 15 seconds sometimes when Jim is talking.
