Palace Intrigue is a daily podcast covering the British Royal Family, the stories, the power plays, and the people who define the monarchy. Right now, no story is bigger than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reported return to the United Kingdom. After years in Montecito and a historic departure that reshaped the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan are moving back to Britain with their children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, who are enrolling in a British school in September. King Charles was told on August 16th. This is the most significant shift in Sussex family life since Megxit,, and we are covering it every day. Palace Intrigue also tracks King Charles III's reign and health, Prince William and Princess Kate's emergence as the face of the future Crown, the ongoing legal battles Harry has waged against the British press, and the daily drama of a family that remains the most covered institution in the English-speaking world. We cover the tabloids, the palace statements, the leaks, and the moments that don't make the American headlines. If you follow the Sussexes, the Firm, the King, the Prince and Princess of Wales, or just can't stop watching the Royal Family. Love the podcast. Hate the audio. I listen every morning in the shower, and while the content is great, the host sounds like he’s either broadcasting from inside a pillow fort or recording with a mouth full of tennis balls. Other podcasts? Crystal clear. This one? Like overhearing a hostage video filmed in a wind tunnel. Please, for everyone’s eardrums, hire a sound engineer!!
The daily dose of royal gossip is fun. Snarky at times, but overall lighthearted. And brief, which is great. The weekly however… it’s just bad. Not only do they not review accurately (so many errors), but it really comes across as flat propaganda. It’s weird that the daily version snarks on Harry/Meghan, and the weekly sings their praises, in a pretty nauseating way. Find a happy medium?
I listen every day because Mark Francis is awesome and sometimes you guys pick up stories that other people miss. But this new weekly thing with the AI you have got to get rid of this. It’s insulting to the audience. I mean, it’s clearly AI reading a script (a bad one) it’s not human beings. Mark is so real and his inflections are so great. And then this Palace Weekly thing is just bad, so bad. If that female voice says “yeeaaaaaahhh” one more time I’m going to vomit. I understand you’re trying to do more with less but… You can’t think that this is entertaining for people. But Mark, you’re great so I’m giving you five stars!
The raspy voice… the biting humor… the self-deprecation. Love it all. I want all of my pop culture tidbits delivered by this man.
