Hello there! Welcome to my podcast: Mini Stories to learn Spanish. This is a podcast for high beginners and intermediate learners of Spanish. In this podcast, you can listen to short histories to help you learn Spanish, improve your Spanish and reach your goal to speak Spanish. I'm Joel Zárate. I am the podcast producer. I hold two masters’ degrees: a MA in Spanish and a M.Ed in TESOL and my area of specialization is Second Language Acquisition, how we learn languages. I hope you like this podcast and that it helps you to advance in your journey to learn Spanish.

So far this has been the best podcast site Ihave found for learning spanish. It is very effective and provides a way for comprehensive input, vocabulary and grammar.

I regularly visit Mexico and Central America and try to speak Spanish as much as possible when there. Since I took Spanish many years ago in middle and high school, this podcast is perfect for improving my listening skills, vocabulary acquisition, and general cultural understanding. I love the structure of the podcast: the first round of storytelling is told more slowly with a neutral Mexican accent, while the second round is faster with a neutral Spanish (Spain) accent. The plots are practical for the advanced beginner/low intermediate (e.g. a boy who goes to the library). They’re also incredibly uplifting, such as a girl with long hair who cuts and donates it to a hospital for children with cancer. I look forward to each new adventure!

Joel is a fantastic teacher. All of his podcasts are so thoughtfully crafted! He speaks very slowly and clearly so learners can keep up. Each podcast is a little different — but for each one, the focus is on supporting new Spanish speakers. Thank you Joel!!!
