What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

This podcast covers a wonderful, wide sweep of Jewish diversity. I really appreciate all the possibilities that feel open to you when you listen. And it pairs excellently with their Talmud podcast as a double feature on Shabbat. I really appreciate everything this show has done to serve the wider community and to encourage creativity in Jewish life.

I deeply appreciate the space Judaism Unbound creates for reimagining Jewish identity outside institutional norms. The spiritual openness, the intergenerational curiosity, and the attention to justice all keep me listening. That said, I find myself increasingly uneasy with how the podcast discusses Israel and Zionism without including any actual Israeli voices (at least in the episodes I’ve listened to). I don’t say that to shut down critique, I think critique is vital. But in my opinion, these episodes too often center American discomfort without meaningfully engaging Israelis (Jewish, Palestinian, Mizrahi, queer, left-wing, peace activists, etc.) who live with the complexities daily. If we’re serious about peoplehood, about listening across difference, and about dismantling inherited hierarchies, shouldn’t we be widening the circle? Not narrowing it to Americans who already largely agree? I’d love to see future episodes bring Israelis into the conversation not just as subjects of critique, but as full participants in shaping what Jewish futures can be.

I found this wonderful website through my Rabbi who suggested this as a resource for my conversion to Judaism. I look forward to every new episode as well as past ones. There is such a variety of topics that spark my interest in so many areas. I am very grateful for this opportunity to learn and understand Jewish Religious culture and values. I also am grateful for the JewCurious staff for doing their part to expose antisemitism through their signs and resources on their website.

I struggle with the connective feelings I long for from faith. This pod and the huge collection of conversations help me keep the big questions in the front of mind, and I deeply appreciate the eagerness to wrestle with topics in the grey area of life.
