My family and I were recently forced to leave our farm in Northern Thailand due to catastrophic forest fires resulting from increasing shifts to industrial farming practices rooted in aspirations primarily motivated by quick monetary gain. On our long drive South we listened to several of Kamea’s interviews and our despair slowly turned into (what one elder whom Kamea interviews, Martin Prechtel says;) Hope for a time beyond now. These are special conversations that don’t offer quick fixes but seed intergenerational transformation. So important now. Onward!

I consider Green Dreamer to be my own Platform 9 3/4s, where I must surrender my muggle reality in order to access and learn from. Every time I take in one of these podcasts, my own personal aperture is widened, never to narrow again on the topic - lichen, language, fungi, plant intelligence, somatics - the list goes on. Host Kamea Chayne is both SO smart and SO compassionate, and with her guest together they spin our suppositions of these subjects through their keen perspectives. It is refreshing that a human as intelligent as Chayne can defy academic pedantry, but she does. I partook in a Green Dreamer program and got so much out of it. Cannot recommend this podcast enough. Endless stars!

I can’t remember how I came across this podcast, but I have been listening to GD since 2018. It’s actually the only podcast I listen to as I end up spending quite a bit of time reading the books mentioned in the conversations. I look forward to every episode and especially once the overarching theme of the them evolved more into decolonization versus sustainability, it’s impossible to finish an episode without taking away something (oftentimes many things). I love that Kamea asks very thoughtful and well-researched questions and oftentimes lets us go on a learning journey with her when she briefly mentions her feelings or perceptions about the topic of discussion. Having an excellent interviewer highlights the work of those she interviews even more. There’s a humility with GD that I think a lot of podcasts are missing and makes GD that much more special. I also want to add that I love this podcast because a lot of these conversations are not easy to have and it’s comforting to know that there are other people passionate about having them.
