I started listening to Da7e through A Storm of Spoilers as a college student commuting over an hour to campus each day back in 2015. I picked up FITWR a couple years later and it’s such a treat to feel like I’ve grown up alongside the pod. I’m now a mom of two young kids and a high school teacher, and each episode is like a reward I get to bask in the drive between snarky teens and equally snarky children. I love that I feel like I stay in the know with cinema even when my free time is limited. Grateful for the coverage and the banter and the commitment to authenticity!

I love the show, immediately latched onto it as a vital bit of interaction with a larger cultural world needed by me as someone whose friends and family generally are trying to ignore as much of the real world as possible.

I always value everyone’s opinions, though sometimes David needs to learn when to drop something (like the Diane Warren rant where Katey would have been right to slap him for interrupting and being condescending). To his haters, I think David deserves some credit for chilling out immensely and maturing in the way he addresses other people’s opinions now that he’s had kids. Listening to old episodes, he could be more than a bit of a butthead about people not sharing his precise taste in things but had come a long way.

Patches is so energetic and open! I appreciate how much he acknowledges his background as a kid from the suburbs and how much that helps him appreciate things oft taken for granted. Admittedly he could also stand to get some more sleep or something, such as in the case of Superman (2025), a movie I think is enjoyable/fine but maybe not responsible for a perfectly realistic conception of real-life events. I think it’s good that a piece of pop culture bubblegum can encourage people to care about and engage with *something* relatable to our moment, even if the metaphor isn’t always perfect.

Katey is wonderful, I always appreciate how measured and thoughtful she is with a particular register for knowing an audience. Her openness and understanding is a tremendous asset and her critical insights, both towards movies and for when Patches or David go off the rails, are worthy of great esteem.

Da7e holds it all together and has a register in his conviction that keeps his opinions from coming off as shallowly incendiary. I appreciate how he doesn’t hide his interests and is ready to honestly address thoughts, his or anyone else’s, on anything out there.

Together, these four make for outstanding discussion and I am delighted to listen to each new episode. I work in a field where my peers tend to not engage with much contemporary art and most of my friends/siblings dedicate their energy to disassociating with the world at large as much as they can manage; I’m happy to have the FitWR crew out there resisting the temptation to tune out and shut down. A must listen podcast!

Came to the podcast for Katey Rich and now come to the podcast just to listen to some goofball friends have a nice chat about movies. Something about it makes me less nervous about expecting my first kid and that I can still have my brain after - Thanks guys!

This is where I learned about Sour Patch Kids in popcorn and my life has never been the same. It was a dark, beautiful, day when I realized I could make this treat at home whenever I want. Thank you for the many years of ad-free film criticism, culture discourse, and snack recommendations. Love you all, even Ehrlich.
