Clear, easy to understand episodes. Perfect for review before my exams.
I love these small digestible episodes of A&P concepts. Gilda is witty and engaging, and the shorter episodes make it easy to pop on when I am in the car. I learned that a HYPOtonic solution means the SOLUDES are less concentrated than the cell- not the water molecules. “Hypo” meaning less and “hyper” meaning more. When talking about osmosis, the water travels from a high concentration to low concentration- but meaning the concentration of WATER molecules, not solute molecules. Hypotonic solutions have LESS soludes so MORE water and the solution wants to travel INTO the cell. Whew! Thank you, Professor Harris!
Going into this chapter, I knew absolutely nothing about bones or the names of them. Listening to this podcast and understanding that there are different types of bones like compact and spongy bones was very informative and very interesting to know and understand that there are so many different factors that go into play to essentially make up your body that isn’t just simple bones.
Professor Harris is an amazing instructor and this podcast has helped me retain the information she teaches in lecture by replaying these episodes. In episode 26 she talks about the specialized cells that make up 2% of bone mass (osteogenic cells , osteoblasts , osteocytes , and osteoclasts )
