I’m the father of 3 and an x-college athlete and have been wrestling with many of the youth sports related topics this podcast has addressed already in the first 8 episodes for several years (sport specialization vs multi-sport, should I coach my kids, how hard to push my kids, being harder on my kid than other people’s kids on my team, when to let others coach my kids, am I crazy for caring this much about coaching my kids sports team, etc). Some of the specific insights include: dynamics of the car ride home after a game, relief from the pressure to specialize vs exposure to multiple sports, find the sport/activity that your kids loves and that love will lead them to invest the effort to achieve success, and many more. I look forward each week to finding out who the next guest will be and hearing their insights on the topic. Thank you for your vulnerability during these conversations about your experiences and keep up the great work.

These words couldn’t be more similar to the ones I’ve been mulling around in my head for many years now. I’m a mom of a junior elite male gymnast, an x-D1 track and field athlete myself and a pediatric child and family therapist. These struggles that Greg talks about in youth sports are REAL!! I’ve got a kid with an intense passion for gymnastics and trying to keep things balanced for him is SO hard and it’s a constant struggle. Listening to the experiences of the ‘parent’ role of the guests that Greg interviews helps to normalize this crazy period of our lives and know we aren’t alone.

Unbelievable podcast. As a former D1 hockey player, father, coach and fam of sport I am trying to answer these same questions. I think all parents of athletes need this.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE KEEP THIS GOING!!
I have shared this with everyone I know in athletics. You have the platform to get intriguing guests and you have a great gift for asking insightful questions. I would help in any way I can just to get this Pod going again!

Outstanding conversations that mirror many of those that we have at our dinner table each week. My son plays baseball and I have been able to take many things that I learned here and apply it to not only him, but his team as well.
