This was the perfect podcast. An engaging exploration of English words with enough academic rigor to satisfy pedants while remaining utterly non-proscriptive or judgmental. As the hosts often disclaim, lexicography is about usage not correctness. I love the thoughtful escape they provided for 20 minutes per episode - a length that in retrospect makes it ideal for binging. I only wish it never ended.

When I first heard this podcast I was surprised by how much I liked it, and how much it changed my mind about the English language. It illuminated so much about the language that native speakers just take for granted, or just never recognized in the language. The way the hosts approach language and usage was incredibly understanding and anti-elitist. I really hope it comes back after this long hiatus, though I am pretty certain that’ll never happen. I haven't heard anything else quite like it! Would happily pay for it!
