When I couldn’t take any more true crime I turned to fiction podcasts, esp speculative fiction. So many of these podcasts have one or two strong elements – story, editing, etc – but woe.begone has it all. The voice actors are excellent and the writing is particularly strong.
Despite the occasional dark nature of the subject matter, the writing is witty (I’ve laughed aloud more than once) and even moving. I care about several of the characters.
I was bummed when I caught up with the release of new episodes and will become a supporter as soon as I can. In the meantime, play woe.begone – you won’t regret it.
And you’ll probably be able to keep both of your arms.

I usually have a hard time listening to podcasts that are done like this, where each episode builds on the last, because I get bored easily, but this podcast is SO good!
It’s got plenty of plot twists, isn’t easily predictable and the “challenges” create smaller storylines within the big story. I love it!

This podcast is the only thing that gets me through work. It’s endlessly entertaining, heartfelt, and extremely well written. It’s witty and gory and everything I look for in a story. My favorite track is Just. Don’t. Die. and everyone who reads this should go buy it on bandcamp

This podcast and Mike Walters both grow on you like a mold. I need new narrative podcasts like I need air, and I’d just finished the Silt Verses when I stumbled upon this one. My thought process was “oh I’ll just listen to this one until I find something better… wait this is actually kind of good I’ll keep listening for now… this is really good I’m gonna make a Spotify playlist… wait oh actually this is one of my favorite podcasts.” I finished this whole thing in just a couple weeks, and am here for the long haul. Yee haw 🤠
