Did you ever wonder what happens if the NPCs ARE the story? Because that's exactly what this podcast explores.
Not gonna lie, I wasn't sure what to expect even though I'm already a fan of the creators, but I definitely did not expect to have such an evocative and richly emotional experience following a panda cab driver through his day!
With just two voices, but a myriad of characters, following Tio was an absolute delight. All of Tio's calming gentleness and that deep well of melancholy came through in his voice - brought to us by the delightful Luke Mason Sanders. And the supporting cast filled out with just one GM felt both abundant in texture and character while remaining relaxed and not strained into "silly voices" by Z Vergun.
I'm not much of a podcast person OR a cozy fantasy person, and I was engaged and reaching for more through the entire two hour episode.
This series seems to ask the question of what are the high stakes situations that low powered individuals and non-adventurers face, and it answers that question with fully realized and complex worldbuilding and deeply connective emotional landscapes.
Can't wait for the next episode!

I don’t really seek out fantasy. I’m more of a horror/ sci-fi guy, and I have aphantasia so I don’t create images in my brain like most other people. So when I came across this, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to follow. The first few minutes is a lot of world setting, some dense geography, very Tolkienesk… but then it clicked. Then I met our main character and I was …. Curious…. And then I was enthralled…. And then I was captured…. This is not only quite lovely and detailed, but it’s fun, exciting, and absolutely enchanting. It unlocked those buried feelings of hearing your parent read to you at night, soothing and familiar. I can’t wait to see where this thing goes… this might be my new favorite podcast.
