I am a volunteer researcher and advocate for wrongful conviction awareness and criminal justice reform. I stumbled on to this podcast a year ago looking for a deeper understanding about issues in the criminal justice system. This podcast is hosted by people in the “trenches” and passionate about their field.
The episodes contains interviews with people actively seeking to have a positive effect on the many issues plaguing the American justice system who have spent years researching the issue being discussed. From the episode discussing the introduction of of drivers licenses and how that changed policing to the episode talking about predictive policing and every episode in between I am not only more informed (armed with notes!) about just how unbalanced the scales of Justice are when it comes to one’s race, class and mental ability- I am also equipped with ideas of to try and even the scales.
I share this podcast everywhere to anyone I engage in wrongful conviction conversations as I believe it’s an invaluable tool to help in understanding the justice system and how wrongful convictions happen.
