An good cautionary tale about relationship red flags and how to keep an eye out for potential elder abuse, but the title and cover art make you think you’ll be hearing some supernatural twists and turns. Nothing supernatural, just humans being human.

The beginning was amazing. A lot of references to the occult, strange things, and a woman you knew was going to become very evil. I loved it. But it seemed to peak in intensity about halfway through and then dwindled off after that to a disappointing end. As another reviewer mentioned, this has very little to do with the occult or supernatural other than intimating that this will be the theme of the show. But it’s not. Elder abuse is really the theme with a mentally ill woman with a propensity for violence, power and control thrown in. I thought it would it would come to light that she was engaging in witchcraft, magical spells, summoning, etc., but nope. And why was the last episode called a witch trial??? It totally was not. Some people perceived of her as a witch because of the gothic way she dressed, and some apparently called her a witch, but this is not the Salem witch trials. I understand since it is a true story that the criminal charges she was eventually convicted of were watered down due to a plea bargain, so a lackluster end in reality. You can’t do anything about that. But this COULD have been a really strong story to the end through the use of better storytelling techniques, additional information and interviews, and sticking to a theme that works. I was just sad that I had invested the time in listening all the way to the end. I expected a bombshell conclusion with the way it began and continued to build in intensity. Save your time.
